Chinese fiberglass firm to open U.S. operations in Richland County

A global fiberglass manufacturer announced it will open its first U.S. manufacturing operation in Richland County, this week, promising to bring $300 million in capital investment and 400 new jobs to the area.

China Jushi, headquartered in Zhejiang, China, is a worldwide supplier of fiberglass reinforcements and fabrics. A 20-year veteran of sales to the U.S. market, Jushi is already an established brand in American markets. The new production line is designed to supplement the growing composite material industry in America.

“The Jushi USA project is a big move for the strategic development of China Jushi,” said China Jushi CEO Zhang Yuqiang. “With the dynamic development of the American composite global market, plus the great support from South Carolina state government and Richland County, we believe that this USA project will achieve great success.”

Company officials cited the growth of the U.S. economy and South Carolina’s business environment as reasons for the decision to place the plant in South Carolina.

“Jushi’s decision to locate in Richland County is a major step forward in our quest to recruit world-class companies. While today’s announcement is a reason to celebrate, the County is committed to the company’s long-term success in South Carolina,” said Richland County Council Chairman Torrey Rush.

Construction of the facility in the Pineview Industrial Park in Columbia, SC is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2016 and be completed within two years.
