How safe is your supply chain? SC manufacturers brace for cyber attacks

Manufacturers are prepared for what they can see coming, whether it be a broken machine, a logistical snag due to weather or workflow patterns.

But gaps in production and the delivery of those goods are not tolerated here. However, the emerging threat of cyber attacks can hit you when you least expect it, and you’ll never see it coming.

And as global commerce and the day to day business transaction is absorbed into the digital realm, the industry faces a new vulnerability.

In fact, “experts place the number of professional hackers to over 300,000,” Jason Premo said, CEO of Acclaim Advanced Manufacturing.

“In places like Russia, China, Eastern Europe and North Korea, hacking is a growth industry.”

But the threat extends beyond your own firm.

“It’s not just about securing your companies’ information systems anymore,” Jon Hightower said, director of IT Risk and Assurance Services for GreerWalker.

“Vendors, contractors, employees, and yes, even customers can pose threats to your supply chain,” he said.
