Cypress Creek Renewables Makes $66 Million Investment in 6 Solar Projects

By: Tammy Johnson

Cypress Creek Renewables a company that specializes in the ownership and development of long term solar energy projects, is investing $66.8 million in six energy facilities in Hampton County. These six facilities are expected to be fully operational by the end of 2016.

Their primary offices are in the states of AZ, MS, NY, NC and the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA. Cypress Creek strives to create solar power that is affordable to utilities and consumers. We are thrilled to bring clean affordable energy to the homes of Hampton County, said Cypress Creek Renewables CEO Matthew McGovern.

Cypress typically focuses on two to ten megawatt utility scale projects, but they are working with regulators, utilities, and business development groups in the US to build more than one gigawatt of new solar projects before the end of 2016. The company is partnering with Sustainable Energy Solutions which will help Cypress to identify sites, obtain permits and coordinate with the utilities. This investment by Cypress Creek Renewables will strengthen SC’s reputation in the area of sustainable energy, said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

In Brunson, SC, Cypress is constructing a $10 million 10-megawatt facility off of Broader Road. In Hampton, SC off of Augusta Highway, the company is constructing two facilities, a six-megawatt facility and a 20-megawatt facility with an investment total of $26 million. In Estill, SC, $30 million was invested to construct three separate operations- a 12-megawatt facility off of Nixville Road, an 8-megawatt facility off of Columbia Highway, and a 10-megawatt facility off of Steep Bottom Road. We appreciate the investment Cypress Creek Renewables is making to Hampton County in bringing renewable, sustainable energy solutions to our communities, said Hampton County Council Chairman Shedron Williams.
