Large Manufacturer Coming to Chester County

One of the country’s largest polyethylene film manufacturers will invest $100 million in a new Chester County facility, creating 300 new jobs.

Poly-America will establish its South Carolina operations as Carolina Poly, Inc. With hiring expected to begin late next year, the company will operate a 475,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on 198 acres at 1580 Lancaster Highway in Chester, S.C.

“Carolina Poly will enable us to stay ahead of growing customer demand for our products and to realize logistical efficiencies in servicing our customers in the Southeast and Northeast,” said Trent Mallory, Vice-President of Sales.

“We look forward to getting up and running in Chester County,” he said.

Company officials anticipate the facility will be operational by mid-2017. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $1.8 million Rural Infrastructure Fund grant to assist with the costs of real property improvements, as well as job development credits related to the project.

Actively marketing and promoting Chester County’s unique assets and advantages in South Carolina, “we have been able to attract exceptional companies, such as Poly America,” said Chester County Supervisor Shane Stuart.

“Today, we’re proud that Carolina Poly chooses Chester,” he said.

The manufacturer was established in 1976 and is headquartered in Grand Prairie, Texas. Poly-America and its affiliated entities produce several product lines, including trash bags, plastic sheeting, silage bags and shrink film.
